satin-finishing

Technique consisting in giving a matt and lined appearance to the parts.

Unlike buffing (which gives an effect of brilliance and shimmer), the technique of satin-finishing is used to give a matt and lined appearance to the parts. This result is obtained through the use of emery cloth, satin finish brushes, or buffs (wooden sticks surrounded by an abrasive paper and used as a file) or other abrasive bonded to a support.

There are different types of satinages "sunray", "right" or "circular".
